Central Teacher Eligibility Test is shortly called as CTET and this examination is conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education for recruitment of teachers for the middle and primary school teacher vacancies in CBSE schools across the nation.

Last date for receiving online and offline of application form in CBSE: Nov 30, 2011
Note: 7 days grace time i.e. up to 07.12.2011 for receipt of Application Form will be allowed to the candidates belonging to remote areas

CBSE, New Delhi will be conducting the Central Teacher Eligibility Test - 2012 on 29-01-2012 at various centers across the country.


Eligibility:
The following persons are eligible for appearing in the CTET


Minimum Qualifications for Classes I-V: Primary Stage

    * Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2- year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known). OR

    * Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known), in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure), Regulations, 2002. OR

    * Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (BElEd). OR

    * Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education)*. OR

    * Graduation and passed or appearing in final year of two year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known).

Minimum Qualification for Classes VI-VIII: Elementary Stage

    * Graduation and passed or appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known). OR
    * Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year Bachelor in Education (BEd). OR

    * Graduation with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year Bachelor in Education (BEd), in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure) Regulations issued from time to time in this regard. OR

    * Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (BElEd). OR
    * Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 4-year BA / BScEd or BAEd / BScEd OR

    * Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year BEd (Special Education)*.

(* Diploma / Degree Course in Teacher Education: For the purposes of this Notification, a diploma / degree course in teacher education recognized by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) only shall be considered)

Application Procedure:
The online submission of particulars may be made at website www.ctet.nic.in during 01.11.2011 to 25.11 .2011. The candidates should supply all the required details while filling up the online form. On submission of details, a Confirmation page with Registration No. shall be generated. Candidates are required to take printout of Confirmation page and paste photograph, sign in the space earmarked for the purpose. The confirmation Page is to be sent by Registered / Speed Post to CBSE (NOT BY COURIER) to

along with original Demand Draft (if fee paid by Demand Draft) for further processing so as to reach latest by 30.11.2011

Applications should be send in an envelop of size 12"  X 10"

Payment can be made as follows:
By Credit / Debit Card or Demand Draft in favour of the Secretary, Central Board of Secondary Education, Delhi drawn in any Nationalized Bank payable at Delhi. Write your Name, Address, Mobile No. and Registration No. on the back of the demand draft.

Information Bulletin containing Application Form can be had personally from the Designated Branches of syndicate Bank & Institutions against cash payment

Structure of CTET Paper:

The question paper for CTET will have multiple choice questions shortly called as MCQs and each of these questions carry one mark. There will be four options and one correct option should be chosen and there is no negative marking for wrong answers. There are two papers in CTET examination and they are Paper I and Paper II. Paper I is for candidates, who wish to join as teachers for classes I to V and paper II is meant for candidates, who wish to join as teachers for Classes VI to VIII. Candidates who wish to work as teachers for any of these classes will have to take up both paper I and II.

Pattern of CTET Paper I:

Paper I, which is meant for candidates wishing to join as teachers for Classes I to V and this paper will be conducted for 150 marks in total divided as follows:

• Child Development and Pedagogy – 30 Questions – 30 marks
• Language I - 30 Questions – 30 marks
• Language II - 30 Questions – 30 marks
• Mathematics - 30 Questions – 30 marks
• Environmental Studies - 30 Questions – 30 marks

Pattern of CTET Paper II:

Duration of examination – one-and-a-half hours
Structure and Content:
(i) Child Development & Pedagogy (compulsory) 30 MCQs 30Marks
(ii) Language I (compulsory) 30 MCQs 30Marks
(iii) Language II (compulsory) 30 MCQs 30Marks
(iv) (a) For Mathematics and Science teacher: Mathematics and Science – 60 MCQs 60 marks
(b) For Social studies/Social Science Teacher: Social Science - 60 MCQs 60 marks
(c) For any other teacher – either (a) or (b)
