Masters' Programmes 2012 – 2014.

 

POST GRADUATE PROGRAMMES (2 Years)

 

Master of Arts in Education: Develops outstanding professionals for fulfilling careers in Education, including as administrators, curriculum designers, entrepreneurs, technology experts, policy specialists, researchers etc. Students will have the opportunity to focus on specific areas such as Early Childhood Education, School Leadership and Management etc. in the second year. Alternatively, students can pursue a balanced general programme as well.

 

Master of Arts in Development: Builds high calibre professionals for leadership in the social sector, with abilities in inter-related development domains, ranging from Governance & Health to Ecology. Career opportunities would be across these domains, including in the field, in operations, in analysis and policy roles.

Masters in Teacher Education*: Develops highly competent teacher educators. Serves the critical need of the Indian education system, to have a large number of dedicated, high ability professionals in the teacher education system.

 

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

 

M.A. (Education) and M.A. (Development):

·         Bachelor's Degree in any discipline.

·         Candidates with work experience are actively encouraged to apply to both these programmes.

 

Master's in Teacher Education*

·         Master's Degree in any discipline

·         A professional teaching certification (B.Ed., D.Ed., B.EL.Ed, M.A.Ed. or equivalent).

·         Minimum two years of teaching experience at School or Pre- University levels.

 *Final approval from NCTE is awaited.

 

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE & STUDENT SUPPORT:

 

Financial assistance through educational loans will be available for all students to cover full or part tuition and accommodation expenses. In addition, scholarships may be provided for eligible students, based on an assessment of needs. Working professionals may be eligible for additional financial support schemes.

 

Student support systems include academic tutorials, language, communication skills and counselling. Student accommodation provided as required.

 

PLACEMENT ASSISTANCE:

 

Placement support will be provided to avail of career opportunities in government, industry, NGOs & multi-lateral agencies. Suitable students will be considered for employment at Azim Premji Foundation on successfully completing the course.

 

 

SELECTION PROCEDURE: Selection based on written test & interview examining proficiency in English, analytical ability, general & social awareness and knowledge of relevant subjects. Written test at 28 centres across India on Sunday, February 26, 2012.

·         Application Fee: An application fee of Rs. 250 is payable to apply for all programmes (candidates can apply for up to 3 programmes provided eligibility criteria is satisfied). Application fee can be paid online at the APU site or by cash at any State Bank of India Branch or any Union Bank of India branch.
