INSPIRE SCHOLARSHIP FOR HIGHER EDUCATION BY MINISTRY OF SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY, GOVT OF INDIA

Central government is giving Annual Scholarships of Rs 1,000,00 for Class 12 toppers, who are opting for a science and technology stream in their higher studies. The onjective of thise scheme is making science an attractive career option for talented young people. Students of CBSE, State and other recogonized will be benefitted with this scheme.


Govt has Allocated Rs. 2,250 crore for the Eleventh Plan Period which comprises this scholarship scheme. The scholarship of Rs. 1 lakh a year will help students to continue their science education at the B.Sc. and M.Sc. levels. The scheme is part of the Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research, better known as INSPIRE. The Department of Science & Technology (DST) will be responsible for collecting eligible students data from various boards and schools.

DURATION OF SCHOLARSHIP
Selected candidates will be supported for a maximum period of five years starting from 1st year course in B.Sc., B.Sc. (Hons), BS and integrated course leading to M.S. or M.Sc. or till completion of the course, which ever is earlier. Continuation of the scholarship for selected candidates is based
on performance in the examinations conducted and certified by the institution imparting education.
