The Indian Institute of Science (IISc), a leading institution of higher learning with a strong tradition of research for over a century, has opened its portals to undergraduate students by introducing a four-year Bachelor of Science (BS) Programme in 2011
The programme is designed as a blend of core science and interdisciplinary topics that will serve as a launching pad for attractive career opportunities in academia and industry
Programme offered: Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Materials, Mathematics, and Physics
The application process for this batch would be completely online and would be available from 01st February, 2012 to 30th April, 2012
Eligibility: Candidates who have completed their II PUC/12th Std or equivalent in 2011 and those who are expecting to complete it in 2012 are eligible to apply
The candidates must have studied Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as main subjects during their PUC/12th Std
Candidates who have studied Biology, Statistics, Electronics, Computer Science, etc, should also have taken Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics
The candidates should have a first class or 60% or an equivalent grade (relaxed to pass class for SC/ST candidates)
Selection: The selection will be based on the merit lists of the following national examinations; KVPY-SA-2010 (selected as fellows), KVPY-SB (appeared in 2011), KVPY-SX (appeared in 2011), IIT-JEE (appearing in 2012), AIEEE (appearing in 2012), and AIPMT (appearing in 2012)
Application forms (available only online): The online application may be prepared and submitted by accessing the IISc websitewww.iisc.ernet.in/ug during 01st February, 2012 to 30th April, 2012
The application fee is Rs 400/- for General/OBC/KM candidates and Rs 200/- for SC/ST/PH categories
After submitting the online application, a printed copy of the filled online application form must be sent to the Institute
Payment of the application fee
Online payment-SBI/Canara Bank which provides Net-banking and Card payment (Visa/Master Card/ Maestro)
Off-line payment-SBI/Canara Bank branches accept challan payment across the country
The bank service charge is extra (to be borne by the applicants)
Submission of printed copy of application form: A printed copy of the filled online application form must reach the Assistant Registrar (Academic), Admissions Unit, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore-560012 on or before 07th May, 2012
Documents to be sent: Printed copy of the completed online application form with photograph pasted; attested photo-copy of SC/ST/OBC/PH/KM certificate, if applicable; a list of authorities empowered to issue the certificate has been provided on the next page; attested photo-copy of National Entrance Test Certificate such as KVPY-SA/VPY-SB/KVPY-SX/IITJEE/AIEEE/AIPMT (if available)
